Most of us think of pepper as a condiment that sits on every dining table, but if you dig into a little history then you discover that these little fruits of the pepper vine (yes, they grow on vines!) were the origin of the Spice Route. Known as 'Black Gold', Pepper was considered the King of Spices, and many fortunes were won and lost in the pursuit of its trade.
This Premium Pepper, known in the trade as TGSEB - which stands for "Tellicherry Garbled Special Extra Bold" - is the highest quality black pepper in the world. Only the largest 10% of peppercorns make the grade, with a minimum diameter of 4.75mm. The outer skin of the berry is thicker, meaning a higher concentration of essential oil impart the noticeably pungent aroma to the pepper.
If you're going to use pepper every day, you may as well use the best.
